MIDDLE-MARKET COMPANY IN THREE PORTS

A middle market company located in the North Eastern United States made a strategic shift in its operations that required the opening of three international manufacturing plants. The company was well versed in manufacturing and operations, but lacked the experience and distribution capabilities to facilitate the complex logistics required.

We developed a complete supply chain solution that included the pickup of the containers at each manufacturing location, delivery to each countries port, facilitated the ocean and air freight shipments, arranged the customs clearance at each U.S. port, provided the palletization and storage for the products and arranged the transportation to the end user.

Our solution not only facilitated an easy and efficient supply chain and logistics operation, it reduced the company's risk of failure and sped its time to market.

Fortune 500 Corporation

A large U.S. corporation was importing product through several eastern United States ports and were utilizing chartered break bulk vessels. Each vessel contained 5,000 to 6,000 tons of product in large super sacks.

At each port, the company was utilizing a stevedoring company to provide vessel docking arrangements, product unloading and delivery to our warehouse. The Fortune 500 Company's controllers could not budget accurately because the stevedoring company could not provide fixed cost per unit basis.

The stevedoring company charged overtime and weekend rates and in many cases the vessels arrived on the weekends or required additional man hours to unload, thus providing a budgeting nightmare for the Fortune 500 Company.

To provide a solution to this challenge, we utilized our facilities, transportation and additional outsourced companies to provide fixed rates with twenty-four hour per day, seven day per week availability regardless of the time when the vessel arrived.

Our solution not only facilitated an easy and efficient budgeting process for the Fortune 500 Company, it saved them money by eliminating the weekend and overtime charges.

International Company with a Crisis

A large international company, which imported products into Charleston, South Carolina had a strategic shift in one of its operating divisions and overnight found itself with two hundred inbound containers, one hundred and twenty of which were already in the port AND had no where to put them!

We received the request for help in solving this problem on a Wednesday and by Thursday had negotiated a mutually profitable arrangement and begin retrieving the containers from the port.

We provided immediate service to a customer in need and did so with rates no different than the ones currently prevailing in the market.

Start-Up Company

A small South Carolina based company invented a product, which needed to be manufactured in China. The company had no experience in facilitating this type of logistics and requested we provide an all-encompassing solution.

We assembled a team with the capabilities to arrange for the shipments from China, customs clearance, transportation from the port, inventorying of the product at our warehouse, palletizing and shrink wrapping the pallets and provided racking to cost effectively store the product. Finally, we provided transportation directly to the Start-Up Company's customers.

The product was hugely successful and the Company has many times stated that it would have been a failure without our logistics solution.
